What is Literacy by Design? Literacy by Design is a structured reading program focusing on teaching students reading skills and strengthening reading comprehension through teacher modeling, whole class instruction and independent practice. Students study vocabulary connected to the stories in their sourcebook and are instructed in grammar several times a week. Approximately every two weeks an assessment will be given with a practice test sent home two days prior.
